Other than the usual and played-out drinking scene that goes down each Friday and Saturday night in downtown Bend, there's not much on the social-networking calendar this weekend.

So, to compensate for the lack of entertainment, the writing staff at NewWest.Net/Bend has come up with five things to do this weekend that will be both physically and mentally rewarding. Enjoy.

Go Hiking: Although the snow is still abundant in the Cascades, particularly after this week's added accumulation, head east and stomp through the high desert. If you haven't been to Fort Rock or Smith Rock State Park, now's the time.

Clean The House: There's no great concerts or art hops to cover for the lack of cleaning around the homestead this weekend. Bust out the broom, turn up the tunes, and clean the damn house. It makes for much better living.

Go Fishing: The trout are increasingly biting on the Deschutes. Or, if you're feeling ambitious, head up to Lake Billy Chinook and try landing a gigantic lake trout.
